South East Area Transit (SEAT) is Zanesville and Muskingum County’s public transportation provider. We provide transportation to individuals and to organizations that are Qualified Human Service Organizations (QHSO) as determined by the Federal Transit Authority. We transport many people to many different places that are a necessity for individuals to maintain their lives from day to day. Unfortunately we are not always able to provide transportation for organizations that are in need of our services due to mandated rules, guidelines and regulations. The SEAT’s Board of Trustees in late 2014 adopted a new program to help 501©3 Non-Profit Organizations provide the necessary transportation to their clients. The program is to donate a vehicle that SEAT is no longer going to use for service and that has been officially approved for disposition from the board and SEAT’s overseers to an organization that is in need of transportation for their clients.
In order to be considered for this program, the Non-Profit entity must be a 501 © 3 Non-Profit Organization. They must also serve youth, elderly (seniors) or low income individuals and have a barrier to transportation. Preference will be given to a Non-Profit Organization that is part of the current Muskingum or Guernsey County Coordinated Human Service Transportation Plans or helping to eliminate gaps in transportation services in Muskingum and/or Guernsey Counties. An application can be emailed to info@seatbus.org that must be completed and returned along with a copy of the most recent Financial Statements, the last two years of 990’s, the last two year ending Financial Statements and a brief summary of why your organization needs a vehicle and a description of why the organization has a barrier to obtaining a vehicle. After your information has been received, reviewed and verified, the Board of Trustees will make a recommendation for the donation a vehicle. This program is an effort on SEAT’s behalf acknowledging the importance of transportation and understanding it is the lifeline for organizations to provide their much needed services to their clients.
